INITIATIVE FOR EMBRACING HUMANITY IN AFRICA

Documentation and Storytelling

_
From oral traditions to streaming movies, storytelling is central to the human experience. Beyond simple entertainment, stories have the ability to impact people and advance social change. Through our Media Division, the experienced team of documentary filmmakers, editors, videographers and photographers interview and painstakingly record the individual stories of each of our beneficiaries. Some of the more powerful and touching ones are developed for broadcast and educational/advocacy purposes. Therefore, harnessing the power of narrative to strengthen the impact of our work only makes storytelling even more potent. It is critical that there are resources for creative storytelling that are working in concert with other strategies in social justice like advocacy, policy work and rights-based work. If you do not have artists and creative storytellers working alongside and embracing these movements and embracing these kinds of goals, then you leave a very, very powerful tactic off the table.
